TARE’s responsibilities are to manage policy for Tulsa’s refuse and recycling system — which includes residential and commercial waste, recycling, curbside yard waste and bulky waste — and to set rates for trash services delivered within the City of Tulsa. In order to complete these tasks efficiently, the residents of Tulsa have to be educated. That's where we came in. TARE wanted to educate people about the different types of plastics and the kinds of plastics that can be recycled. We were asked to create an infographic video that taught people about recyclables. (The TARE brand has a colorful and friendly aesthetic that is image-based and straight forward. They are very literal and passionate about recycling).
I started my process with analyzing the stats that the client provided and creating sketches of transitions. Then, I put those ideas into Illustrator. Using Premiere, I sequenced the video and add in the background music. This part of the process helped my art director, client and me to see a rough version of how the final video would turn out. The client ended up loving the direction and we moved forward to producing the final video, which was created in After Effects. Overall, the client was very happy with what I created and they decided to translate the video into Spanish.
